Art Journal Feb 15

So for February 15th's prompt it's "My favorite things" over at The Year In the life of an Art Journal.  Here's the skinny on the prompt.
THE PROMPT: My Favorite Things
ie: a few of the things you LOVE about someone you love. Can be alive or dead.
THE STUFF: Lists and ephemera
ie: have a few tokens from that someone? Maybe the cover of the CD with "your song" or a napkin from the restaurant you both love to eat at...
THE TECHNIQUE: Pockets
ie: Use pockets to store those "things" on your page.
Okay, one of the gals that was a Guest DT she stated about her SB supplies and breaking them out; so that's what i did. :) I didn't add acrylic paint to it! Whoa! ;)  
Oh man, as i'm typing this, I just read to add ephemera! Darn It! I forgot that.  I love ephemera, too.  ha! oh well.  

I added my 7 Gypsies paper as a background paper - (My fave) and the "Top 10" is from from hoard vault.  It's from Deja Views "tell YOUR story" sticker tablet.  (can't remember if it was from a swap or if i bought it - LOL) Of course, had to use my Tattered Angels Glimmer chips from Creme de Cocoa and Tim Holts' Adage tickets for "Love".  A Stamp for hte luggage and back ground stamp.  I also used the Bingo envie to add 'stuff' in there. ;) Of course Rick's picture behind the MM (?) metal frame.  I'm quite happy with this. :) 

Art Journal prompt 1

So, i've decided to take part in The Year In the Life of an Art journal again this year.  I *am* late.  Very late.  It started on January 15, 2012 and it's now June 12, 2012.  Haha  Oh well, that's me.  Takes me a while to get started on things.  I'm always late to the party.

Here's the "rules" (just something to broaden our horizons, so not technically rules)
THE PROMPT: Word
ie: along the lines of One Little Word, choose one word that embodies the way you want your year to be LIVED.
THE STUFF: Imagery
ie: Use images, clippings... all to create the FEELING of the word you choose.
THE TECHNIQUE: PAINT/DOODLE
ie: paint and doodle on your images to further create the emotion of your word


Here's my entry.  I'm using an ole journal book i've had for a LOOONG time.  It's kraft paper and it's paperchase (?, i think).  I bought it from Borders in their clearance section and i've always wanted to use it for something.  I've hoarded for a while and now i'm glad i'm using it.  I've also glued some of the pages together b/c it's pretty flimsy.  


I used Thickers - I didn't have a complete Thickers alpha set so i compromised and I LOVE LOVE the way it turned out! 

My word was Regret - it seems like i'm always using that word in my art journals but i"m using it again.  :) I've used acrylic paint and background stamps.  I doodled around the edges and i'm going to journal on the right side of this page.  

My journaling is going to say something to this effect:  No matter how you cover up regret it always seeps through.  

Using up thickers...

I'm using up those Thickers that i haven't used or have use for. .  I'm participating in A Year in the Life of an Art Journal again.  I'm late.. well.. VERY LATE, but i'm playing catch up and that's fine by me. :) There's no rule that says I need to be on time. Heehee.

One of the challenges is (January 30th) is to use stencils or mask.  Since i don't have any alpha stencils or mask i created my own. I used my unwanted Thicker as stencils.

Here's a couple of pix. As you can see i still have more Thickers that i haven't used, but i'm getting there. :)

A year in the life - Letter V & W

Here's another prompt - Letter V - the word was Vicarious. I need to journal, but before i did that, i thought i'd post a pix of it.

The prompt for W was Wish. That's a loaded prompt, but here ya go. Again, showing you the pix before i journal it.

A year in the life - Letter U

This is the prompt for U - it was Underneath. This was from last year's A year in the Life of an Art Journal: ABC's of Me. I finally completed this prompt, so here it is. I'm very excited that i'm almost done w/this art journal. I got pretty far. LOL

My Art Journals

I've done these but they've been sitten waiten to have their pictures taken..LOL I'm a bit sad b/c it's almost over. I loved doing these! But being that we're almost done w/this year, it means a NEW YEAR and it means a NEW SET OF PROMPTS.. so happy again.. ((DOING the happy dance)) :)

Here are the prompts for my A year in the Art Journal for 2009.

S - prompt word was SING.. I couldn't figure out what to do for SING.. after i left my thought process alone, one of my favorite church songs came to my mind:) (Ere you left this morning.. ) and we were supposed to use a music paper so i copied the music book and the actual first few notes of the song.. copied it all.. the flats and all that.. then i wrote my journaling about my 'singing' prompt.. haha


T- Tasty
This is my favorite 'picaso' - haha it's my doodling. heheehee -i've always enjoyed doing this and coloring it in. I can remember doing it for as long as i can remember. hahaha! But when i do this type of doodling it's VERY TASTY to me. Tasty, why? Because this is my taste of style - i know most people were doing food objects, but this 'picaso' makes my mouth watery.. LOL

• Mail Diana's flock :) I have it wrapped but i haven't mailed it yet. SORRY, GURL!

Let's see how much i get done (i should be okay, if i don't look outside at the pool!) :) I went to borders and bought a new magazine (Somerset Studio) Artful Blogging. :)

Art Journal

Since i didn't do any of my art journal prompts like i had hoped over the weekend, i decided to work on them this week. So far, i started (and finished) some of them. Here's what i got going on.



I=Imagine I just need to journal it - i was going to journal in pencil and then go over the penciled journaling in black/white ink. It'll look good. (i think.. LOL)



J- Just cuz= i distressed the edges on this paper, which worked out great b/c on the other side of this was K for Karma.



K=Karma -- Karma - really sucks when it comes back to bite you in the ass (that was my journaling...)



L=Look - Mine was Look at me (the me is done backwards) Just need to journal this..




M (Maker's Choice and do try a new technique on your page) == I used the word Milestone and my new technique was flocking. I flocked the "Mile" (which is an upside down W) and i need to finish it. going to flock the 'stone' part of it and journal it and i'm done. :)



N=Now --- (live in the NOW) added pix inside the Jenni Bowlin journaling cards (the lil pictures are from the package of pictures you get when you develop them) It worked. I journaled all around the pictures. :)



I just need to start on my O and i'm caught up w/my art journal. :) Which is good b/c we get another prompt on Monday!

H - Prompt - Happiness

Our H- Prompt was the word Happiness. . the technique was to Take a picture and use the whole thing as your background for your topic. Share something that is the symbolic of the direction you take your art journal.

I didn't really do any of the symbolic stuff and didn't have enough ink in my printer for a picture background, but this is what i did.. i stamped the word happiness and wrote a few things that made me happy about scrapbooking, crafting.

Oh yes, i flocked the letter A, E - heehee

G-Prompt - Grow

Our G prompt was the word Grow - (i totally screwed up my spelling in my journaling.. LOL but i just left it.. figured it was 'me' so i let it go.. )

I'm really enjoying these prompts - in fact, i can't wait til we start doing 2 in a week **wihoo**

I'm behind 'loading' my prompts - i've done them, but i've been lazy/busy w/ things that by the time i have a moment to take a picture of my prompts, i'm out of energy! LOL

F was a free prompt. Meaning we could do any word that began w/the letter "F" - i used Freedom.

E Prompt - Elusive

A Year In the Life of an Art Journal - I'm finally posting the pix for our Letter E Prompt - which was Elude.

Making cards are very elusive to me. And that's what mine was about. I'll post my "F" prompt later on this week.. I"m waiting for paint to dry. :)

D-Decide Prompt

I finally took a pix of my prompt that we had a couple weeks ago!! Sheesh, i almost fell behind (LOL) Alas, here's my take on our DECIDE prompt from The ABC's of Me Art Journal - I'm really diggen on these prompts.

ABC of me-Clearly

I haven't had a chance to add my C prompt for ABC's of me art Journal- (The word was CLEARLY) and here's my take on it. This took me a while to do b/c it could've lead to so many different directions, but this was the perfect fit for ME :) TFL...

The title is "eye wanna c CLEARLY" and a blurry pix of my contact lense case.

Art Journal - Because

For the Art Journal (abc's of me) our prompt word was BECAUSE:

I had fun w/this. . i got to play w/paint, which it's been a while since i've played w/my paint. twas nice :)

I journaled beneath all the paint, "because, I 'blah blah, blah' and then cover up all the negative because w/layers of paint and then write our new BECAUSE over it.

the "Because and IT" was cut from my new cricut cartridge cuttin up and i used adhesive mulberry paper that my SIL gave me as a hostess gift. I love it! :)

Action

Action was the prompt for the A year in the Life of an Art Journal (http://oneyearartjournal.blogspot.com/) This is my take on the topic. I used a cuttlebug embossing folder (forget what this design is called) and embossed a clear sheet (acrylic? one of those plastic thingies that come off the stickers..i forget what they're called, sorry) *rolleyesatme* - anyway, embossed it and used my cricut for the titles Take Action using my printing press cart. I put the "take" on the acrylic thin plastic sheet and also a Heidi Swapp black label chipboards. I used the positive and negative for this. I also used Tim Holtz's grungeboard of the "40" and journaled the page. The journal book i'm using is from SU board book - it's the small one.

Sorry the picture quailty sucks, i'll try and take a better pix tomorrow.
