she creates and she can make cards!!!

With the help of Sara, we made cards last nite and this afternoon!! We had a GREAT time. She really pushed me to the limit as far as paper piecing goes. (AND getting those Halloween cards done-THANKS SARA!) We found out she's a much better paper piecer than I am!! LOL

We got out my cricut & DL'd some files (some from the Dafont and other from the ladies at craftedge forums and some from our very own Aimee!!) (((I'll come back & post credit to the file makers, i need to browse thru my lapttop and see what files i got from where.)

Importantly, I used everything here from MY STASH!!!! I'm so stoked!! Items i've hoarded for years!!!!! AGAIN, Thank you Sara for making me use these items!!! :) (Items from swap items, secret sister gifts)

I got this from Amyee's blog. We used the haunted house. Twas fun!! Sara pieced the house together and we sticked the moon and chalked the edges..

I got these bat files from cuts4scrapbooking blog. (I think that the was the name of the blog, i'll get the site when i got thru my laptop.

Art Journal - Because

For the Art Journal (abc's of me) our prompt word was BECAUSE:

I had fun w/this. . i got to play w/paint, which it's been a while since i've played w/my paint. twas nice :)

I journaled beneath all the paint, "because, I 'blah blah, blah' and then cover up all the negative because w/layers of paint and then write our new BECAUSE over it.

the "Because and IT" was cut from my new cricut cartridge cuttin up and i used adhesive mulberry paper that my SIL gave me as a hostess gift. I love it! :)

Cricut tips for cutting other medium

I found this on the Cricut MB - I wanted to put it here for safe keeping, it's regarding cutting fabric. The ladies were having a hard time cutting fabric and this is what one of posters wrote:

Heat N Bond is the simplest way to cut fabric. I made a huge, multi page book with all sorts of shapes and designs using my Cricut to cut the fabric. I have an Expression, but any of the cricut's will cut fabric. Note, I did not use a deep cut blade either. I also cut felt, adhesive felt and foam.

Here's what I learned:
Put heat n bond on fabric.

Adhesive felt: flip over and cut from adhesive side. The paper provides a nice smooth edge for the cricut to cut through. If your image isn't reversible, remember to press the flip button before typing in what you want it to cut.

Felt - use heat n bond and cut from reverse side. It will cut right through no problem. Again, remember to use flip button if your image isn't reversible.

Foam - adhesive foam cuts best from the backside as the cricut sort of dents the foam as it goes over a blank area to move to a new area. Basically, because of the depth of the foam, the blade housing is pressing in, even when not cutting. So to avoid unwanted lines, cut from reverse. You do need to watch carefully as the paper on the adhesive foam backing can sometimes lift and get stuck in the blade.

I was going to try and make Zigg's challenge into a double l/o but i didn't have it in me to get that far.. LOL





Using the b/w pix i came up w/this l/o using the same sketch from page maps that Ziggs used as a guide line.

the paper is BG Blush and i used the grungeboard on this l/o. Used Cricut Printing Press for the title and the BG alpha stickers. I'm still using that paper.. LOL

Action

Action was the prompt for the A year in the Life of an Art Journal (http://oneyearartjournal.blogspot.com/) This is my take on the topic. I used a cuttlebug embossing folder (forget what this design is called) and embossed a clear sheet (acrylic? one of those plastic thingies that come off the stickers..i forget what they're called, sorry) *rolleyesatme* - anyway, embossed it and used my cricut for the titles Take Action using my printing press cart. I put the "take" on the acrylic thin plastic sheet and also a Heidi Swapp black label chipboards. I used the positive and negative for this. I also used Tim Holtz's grungeboard of the "40" and journaled the page. The journal book i'm using is from SU board book - it's the small one.

Ziggs Challenge Day 12

Witching Hour:

The witching hour! Use time inspiration but NO premade clocks or items! You have to make it your self! (insert cackle here)I did the clock in the corner by using a brad template to mark out the dots for the clock and the arrows for the hands, connected them and added stickles. I hand wrote the numbers.

Here's another challenge i did for the cricut thread. The challenge was to use at least use two cartridges and use embellies made from the cricut carts as well. This was fun. I had to make my own embellies from my lil bug. :)

Another part of the challenge was to make a l/o about yourself.

I need to get things when they're on Sale..

A few months ago i saw at WM that there were some Cricut cartridges that were on clearance ($30 and $25) and i didn't buy any... (b/c i wasn't sure about the fonts..) now.. i'm kicking myself i didn't get them! Especially after seeing how the cartridges cut in person!! Rick told me, if you don't think you're going to use the cartridge, buy it.. IT'S ON SALE!!
